California’s Drug War: Meth
Meth
Methamphetamine continues to be the predominant drug menace in California.
Mexican organizations direct the development and deployment of high-quality meth, while a secondary trafficking faction, composed mostly of Caucasians, operates undersized, unsophisticated laboratories. Secret laboratories can be set up in any setting: high density residential neighborhoods, sparsely populated agricultural areas, remote desert locations in the southern portions of California, and the forested areas in northern California. In recent years, there has been a let up in the number of meth labs seized in California and an spread in the number of meth labs just south of the border in Mexico.
