An Update on California’s War on Drugs-Part 1

Drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana are smuggled into the state from Mexico; even so, methamphetamine and marijuana are still produced or cultivated in substantial quantities here in California. San Diego remains a dominant transshipment zone for an assortment of drugs smuggled from Mexico. The northern portion of California continues to be awash in methamphetamine, but more and more in agricultural areas. Heroin remains the number one abused drug in San Francisco, and both heroin and crack cocaine continue to impact Oakland. Methamphetamine abuse continues in and throughout Sacramento.
